The loading level and catwalk structure sits on eight 6’ beams that were welded and fabricated on site. The stage system includes 47 axes of motion, using more than 130 motors for hoisting, lifting, sliding, and rotating. The stage-“We tweaked it a bit to make it an oval,’’ Beecher says-is positioned over a 55' by 50' diameter concrete sub-pit that houses the stage structure and systems. The theater-in-the-round at the Centre Stage is the building’s signature element. The Centre Stage is the most technologically advanced in the world, with an 80-foot fly loft, a lift system with eight hoists to drop in actors and set pieces, ascending and descending stages, and technology that will enable hearing-impaired theater patrons to understand audio from performers. The 467-seat Sorenson Legacy Jewel Box theater opened in September 2017, and the 901-seat Centre Stage theater opened in November as well. The theater celebrated the grand opening in November 2017 of its 133,000-square foot Mountain America Performing Arts Centre that seats 1,368 patrons in two theaters. President, CEO, and executive director Mark Dietlein and his Board of Directors chose the latter option.
Hale Center Theater Orem is currently open and recently announced its 2021 season lineup, which includes beloved shows like The Sound of Music, Jane Austen’s Emma, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and more.After 13 years of performances playing to capacity audiences at its 613-seat theatre in West Valley, Utah, executive leadership at the Hale Centre Theatre faced a hard question: increase ticket prices significantly, or build a new theater. They hope to ensure the arts will continue to bring joy to people’s lives for a very long time to come.
Hale Center Theater Orem is proud of both the performing arts community and the community at large in Utah for working alongside them with patience and understanding as it learned to adapt and grow with the new normal. Although Hale Center Theater was able to find creative solutions to combat the pandemic, it’s still an ongoing challenge to ensure staff, patrons, and performers’ safety. In summer 2020, Hale Center Theater Orem allowed audiences to, slowly but surely, return to the theater to enjoy live performances in-person with strict safety guidelines in place, including mask requirements and only filling the theater to half capacity to allow for social distancing everywhere possible. Luckily, Hale Center Theater Orem had the opportunity to work with local government officials and the health department to develop safe and effective ways to make this happen.Įarly on, Hale Center Theater Orem created a streaming program called Thousands of people worldwide were able to enjoy live theater from their own homes’ safety and comfort. Like many other businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic, Hale Center Theater Orem had to adjust its business model to continue to bring live entertainment to their audiences.
